Information Literacy Day 1

Course aim:

  • to introduce the concept of information literacy
  • to link information literacy to the NZ Curriculum
  • to explore a range of information literacy process models
  • to clarify the role of the school library in supporting the school's information literacy programme

Course content:

  • Introduce Information Literacy as a concept, and why it is a critical literacy
  • Look at what recent NZ research reveals
  • Identify skills which students need to develop
  • Look at a range of information and inquiry process models
  • Explore how your school library can act as an agency for change
  • Make it happen- next steps
  • Where to find resources to support information literacy programmes
  • Exploring the blog

Preparation for Day 1:

Look out the resources (left) which should be in your school, and check out the websites (left): familiarise yourself with them.
